Yeah, I know they do make a clicking noise normally, just wondered if it was due to a blocked injector or something, causing a restriction of fuel as the revs come back down.

 

its the fuel system priming. nothing to worry about. as for the stalling. does it drive? hesitate?

 

Yeah it drives, but aslong as you change gear in a quickish fashion. Just if you hold the clutch down if you're stopping, or shift into neutral the revs dissapear and it stalls. Although you can restart the engine, and it can sit in idle :S

 

does it throb on idle?

 

It did, it did stall on idle too. Just changed the spark plugs though, and now it sits on idle. Doesn't throb THAT much, unless you rev it and it doesn't stall. Which happens 1 out of 10 times lol Then the engine bounces all over the place trying to get out of the bonnet until its found its idle point!

that sounds like its missfiring check your spark plugs are in right and they are clean.

 

tbh new engine, nah only you will prob just need to adjust your idle?

 

Well I will try that, but as i say, it does sit in idle not too bad :S

yeah once its warmed up it does idle on 800 like it should. But if you rev it and let it drop back down, it just stalls away. Or judders from 300 revs back to 800.

I thought it could be due to fuel starvation :S The injectors do make an odd noise, but I'm told that is just the noise they make when priming. So I dunno! How would i find out?

 

Just changed the spark plugs for brand new ones, with new leads too. Before they were changed the car wouldn't even sit at idle. You had to keep revs up or it would just stall. Now atleast it can sit at idle!

im havin the exact same problem by the sounds of things, my car will start if u rev to high hell, and will drive as long as the revs keep above 1000 otherwise will drop down and stall, any ideas to what it could be as the bloke in the garage looked a bit stumped this morning when i took the thing in, if anyone does know what it could be will it cost much??

Where abouts is the throttle position sensor?

I've searched all over the web, and the same problem seems to crop up everywhere, yet no one has a solution :S Some people have said that a small oil leak can cause it.

I think that the inlet manifold gasket may be leaking slightly, but we wanted to get the engine running again before sorting that :S

Ah right. Well when we unclip that the Revs jump around between 1 and 1.5k revs. Doesn't seem to stall though, but the revs come down really slow if they go higher then 4k with it unplugged :S

Just read your problem. I have TF 135 cams in my 120, which it isn't mapped to, and if you go into neutral on a cold engine the revs will drop to 500rpm then flit up to 1200rpm or so a couple of times. It's never stalled when it does this though.

I'd be tempted to check the vacuum connections for any leaks.

 

Hmmm, wouldn't be a vacuum leak if it doesn't do it when the Throttle position sensor is unclipped though would it?
