usisng fire gum seperate it, put it on the faces then bolt it back together, but you dont want to put exhaust paste before the cat, if your wanting to just cover it get gungum its soo much better, repaired my backbox for months and it had a massive hole in, it, did till i got stainless box

yeah thats the precat then the main cat is in the next section, its up to you it might be fine but id make sure the bolts where tight and new gasket fitted properly, sure its leaking from there? my precat split right round the weld had to take it off and wel it up, think because the later cars used smaller flexis they where more prone to breaking the precats and the flexis themselves as well

 

im sure its leaking from there, i had car accident 9 months ago, and my car had damage under. bought new gasket but there is leaking again. mehanic say section where to pipe get together are curved, and need to grind it or change the whole section

 

well if its a choice of changing the whole section then put a very very small smear on eaah side of the gasket then bolt it back together,
