Some of the best F1 I've seen

I got a copy of Clarkson 'The Italian Job' for Christmas' and in it, Clarkson visits the Galleria Ferrari. In there he spies the Ferrari Formula 1 car that Gilles Villeneuve used in 1979. Clarkson talks about an epic duel the car was involved in between Villeneuve and René Arnoux. I'd not seen this so I decided to have a butchers.

Awesome tbh :trampoli:

Gilles Villeneuve is in my top 3 of drivers who didn't win the championship. What a hero.

To me that was when F1 was worth watching purely down to driver skill as the cars were'nt computer controlled. That was a hell of a race and battle those 2 had.

I read an article written back in 1982 in which they basically said the same about the 50's. I think there's an element of looking back on the past through Rose tinted lenses tbh. As far back as the 1920's and earlier when grand Prix racing began there was a need to be in the best car to win. It's never just been about driver talent.
