The maximum wattage for bulbs on a road car is 60w if they are H4, 55w for all other sizes.
You can use 100w bulbs if they are in auxilluary lights, like the hood lamps on Land Rover Defenders for example, but you really need uprated wiring to be safe

Me and Andy have talked about this many many times with a divided opinion, eh no Andy?

Me charm i'm as miserable as you lmao

Pattern won't be any different rob but like said earlier possible cheap bulbs ? ..Yes they are brighter but i reckon if you put two zeds along side each other one with 55w and one with 100 w you will be hard pushed to see the difference...You do however tell the difference when on the county roads on the look out for sheep

At the end of the day it all down to personal opinion and experience. Andy has run them with no problems for years and had no problems which would indicate that the wiring is able to withstand the extra current draw.

A 100w bulb draws about 4amps more than a 55w bulb, burns twice as hot and will most likely last half as long.
The main danger would be damage to the headlight unit from the heat. There is a chance you could melt the wiring but i can only see this happening if you beefed up the fuse as the standard fuse would trip when the current got too strong.

At the end of the day 100w bulbs are illegal, but technically so are HID kits.............

Yep agree with that youngy not had any problems with the wires or the headlights..I was concerned about the heat and plastics lenses but researched it and was told it would be ok.They have been in now for three years and still running the ones that where fitted then.

Taken a few pics to ease peeps minds..

i ran them for a while and they were fine just not bright enough (seriously!) so went for HIDs instead and they were perfect.

you would never void insurance for them... how are police going to check them? see you have slightly brighter headlights and pull you... then what, take them out of your car whilst they are still white hot? lol. they would never burn through the wires, seriously if they were going that hot and that much resistance was running through the wire the fuse would trip (as you said lol). mot as well they will be fine... beam pattern wont be affected it will just be brighter!

as i say no problems, but i think HIDs are a much better option.. specially as they are only like 34 for a full hid kit.
