Anyone considering a ZS and wants to go V6, I'd seriously look into before you do. A lot of the ZS boys won't like it but as a former 180 owner I feel like I can comment (Anything with a * placed next to is a problem I suffered whilst owning it)....

Personal problems I had with mine (some apply to non v6 models as well)...

- *Clutch slave cylinder went...quite common for a ZS to go through numerous of OE ones through it's life as they are plastic tat and they are like 70 a pop! I made my own out of the higher quality metal civic parts for under 90 that prevents this. However if you aren't slightly handy you'll have to buy a Sheddist kit which costs like 170 odd pounds I think + fitting.

- *Thermostat went - Your probably thinking oooerr easy / cheap job...NO. The thermostat only come as part as a housing and costs 55 odd pound from a dealer...yes for a thermostat and they are VERY common to stick / go bad. Bit of a pain to fit as they sit in the middle of V of the engine.

- *Door handles - they are quite simply crap. My missus who is tiny ripped one off without even using excessive force and I pulled one off as well (but tbf I'm ripped, jk lulz). Can be DIY fixed with glue but just a pain as requires taking all the door cards off etc.

- *Wind Noise - ALL ZS' have this problem regardless of model, it's shocking. It's embarrassing going the motorway as all you can hear is wind noise, especially by the door mirrors area. So many people used to ask if the windows/doors were open. Could be cure by better sound proofing, but again more extra work.

- Tax band - Never had this problem as was taxed when I bought it but it's stupidly high for a car of it's power (don't get me wrong it's nippy but not rapid).

- Vis motors failing...pretty expensive and common, can sometimes be DIY fixed but not always.

- Inlet manifold failing / rattling...expensive, no current fix for it, and when they fail (which most do) it makes the car lose power (I've read up to 40bhp).

If you spend some cashola on them / buy a low mileage one you won't experience most of the problems for a while. They use A LOT of cheap plastic parts for various parts. The engine itself is a reliable unit and doesn't get HGF (well not common) like most K series engine (the V6 is a K series also) and they last for good mileage (few floating about with 200k on them). Just some of the other bits and bobs that epic fail.
