Ive had enough!! New Alarm please!

After having my alarm going off soon after i lock it nearly every day, which mens i have been using the key (so the alarm isnt activated) it is going to the dealership for the 4th time to get it fixed. Chances are the muppets there wont be able to fix it this time so i want the whole thing ripped out and an off the shelf alarm put in instead. I have no ideas about prices or models to go for. I only want the most basic of alarms just with a sensor inside the car. How much would such an alarm cost??

The MK2 ZR's have a CAT 1 alarm already, if the car that the OP has is a MK2 id say its your BCU that's faulty, and usually means a LOT of cash to fix.

Send a message via MSN to digit
You won't be able to remove the alarm totally as its wired directly into the ECU.

The only way you can do it is to use the new unit to lock and unlock car, but you'll still have to disarm the factory immobiliser with the std MG fob.

You'll just never activate the factory alarm ever again.

The price differs, but i've known it to cost 800+ and then there is a small chance the new BCU wont adapt to the new remote fobs correctly, meaning that you need another new BCU, there also on back order with the company that makes them at the moment, the BCU in the MK2's were shockingly poorly built, the BCU aside the MK2 suffers from hardly any other major faults really, its a shame.

Well im hoping the dealership will have more luck in finding one than i would, is there no way of replacing the BCU with an aftermarket system?
