Heater/Blower only working on 1 and 4

Hi all

My blower is only working on settings 1 and 4, completely dead on 2 and 3. I've changed the resistor pack twice now, no difference either time. So unless I've somehow managed to buy two duff ones with the same problem, I can only think that it must either be the rotary switch or the wiring between the switch and the resistor pack at fault - since the fan motor definitely works and I've tried multiple resistor packs. Anyone else had the same problem, or know where to start when it comes to fault finding?

Thanks a lot!

Certainly not the usual problem -it is almost always the resistors that fail, but almost always no 1 is the first to go.

I would think you are probably right - either the fan speed switch is faulty (not too difficult to swap for one from a breakers, or there is a detached wire, or poor connector between the 2nd and third speed settings on the switch and the appropriate pins on the resistor pack. A little more work to check them with a multimeter.
