what brake fluid

Morning all,
Im goona change my brake fluid today but which do i buy?? dot 4 or dot 5.1 ??

Dot 4will be fine dot 5.1 will be even better...But iirc i'm not sure you can mix 4 with 5.1

Frekkel is on a distinguished road
for street use: dot 4
for trackday use: dot 5.1

but I noticed that my brakes held theirselves very good on track with 4.0

My Garage
you could, but you cant mix the 2, dot 5.1 is silicone free so it dosent strip paint but mainly it can cope with higher temperatures and doesent boil as easily. although it can absorb moisture easily so it needs changing regularly. dot 4 has silicone in, it this is what strips paint but it is more stable and doesent absorb water, but under heavy prolonged use the fluid can boil and give you brake fade, id say dot 4 for every day use. hth nathan

every couple of years is advised, i think its about a year or 10,000 miles less than it says in the hand book, but as long as it isnt cusing you a problem i wouldnt worry about it, sum people have used it and not botherd to change it so it may be fine, thats just what ive been told, read, etc hth nathan
