Standard 16" Hairpin tyre options?

Hey -

I've got the standard 16" hairpin alloys with 205/50 R16 tyres and was wondering if it is ok to put 205/55's on instead? (obviously on the same axle). What sort of flexibility in tyre depth sizes are possible with the 16" hairpins?

I did search the forum & only found a little bit of info related to the 17" straights.

Many thanks in advance,

Sy

I wouldn't bother, your going too far out of spec.

Assuming you are on a ZR and judging by how close my 205/50s are to the suspension cup, I would think there is a good chance a 55 will rub.

As above, most folks are looking to move to lower profile; why do you want to go bigger?

BOOM!

I'd be afraid of 55 walls rubbing tbh

Cheers for the input guys.

Reason i was asking was to save a few 's because 205/55's are about a tenner a corner cheaper.
Another reason for enquiring about a bigger tyre size is that my ZR is lowered on black avos which bruise my ass whenever i hit a bump - i thought if i could increase the tyre depth i could reduce some of the harsh ride?

Either way - i'd rather not risk any suspension rubbing. Thanks a lot for your replies.

See signature and go 205/45 instead. Only a -2mph speedo difference at 60mph.
