First timer... buying Sports Bike

Hey,

I'm thinking I might buy a sports bike - either 600cc or 750cc - this summer as I got a couple months off so can pass my test easily enough and have some fun.

I haven't ridden on the road before but i'm used to quick machines with owning the 911 turbo and want another fun, slightly crazy toy.

I went down to my local bike store and saw a GSX-600R in there, looks pretty sick and felt good sitting on it. I wouldn't mind buying one now so I can learn on it.

My budget is around 6k-8k, and I want something damn quick and very exciting which looks awesome. It will only be used for spirited runs on days with great weather.

Is it definitely worth going for a 750cc over a 600cc? Much difference in terms of performance between say the gsx-600r and 750r?

Any info from guys more experienced would be good.

This is like the one i saw

I know your ballin but 6-8k on your first bight seems a lot to me, can easily be damaged and you would expect it to pick up a few nocks being your first.

Lol, I want to get a good one though. This is gonna be a pure 100% fun toy for adrenaline rush, crazy noise and sick looks, so I'd rather spend more and get one that does all that than spend half as much and not get much out of it.

Maybe I could spend less, I don't really know... that's why I'll wait to hear from the guys who have them/experience of them. Certainly if I don't need to spend as much I would be happy to save a bit.

I did see a ZX-6R for just under 5k which looked great too... so maybe something like that would be a better option than a new GSXR.

Can pick up a really nice r6 for half that money easily, its not a case of if you come off its just a case of when! So dont skimp on stuff like lid and leathers you get exactly what you pay for!! At the end of the day you can always buy a new lid but im pretty sure they dont sell heads yet??? And best bit of advice ive ever been given riding a bike was treat everyone on the road as an idiot! Coz they wont be grabing there ribs or what ever as you go over there car.

If it's. A Kawasaki then it should be green in my opinion. The ninjas are supposed to be very scatty. A 750 is nearly as fast as a 1000 but with the handling nearly of a 600. This may sound silly but my friend rides an r1 and he rides it slower than his old sv650.
