Does this sound right to you? (Virgin Media)

Righty all!

Ive been using virgin media broadband via a fibre optic cable connection for the past 9 months at a flat in Edinburgh (12 month contract with virgin).

Now that uni is done for, ive moved back with my folks, and my GF has gone up North for a 3 month work placement.

Ive just been on the phone with virgin to transfer the service to Elgin (where my GF is on her placement). However, elgin doesnt have access to cable so i need to use a phone line.

At first all was fine, then the woman tried to sign me up for another 12 months, but all i want is to use the remaining 3 months of the contract.

According the the woman at virgin i can either cancel the services and pay cancellation fees, or take on another 12 month contract from today. Bearing in mind ill have to upgrade the service to include a phone line because cable isnt available.

Im off to check out my contract docs, but can anyone advise as to whether i really only have the choice of taking on another 12 months contract or cancelling?

Cheers

but surely if you move so to speak, then it is not your fault that virgin media cannot provide the service you already pay for. Therefore surely it is virgin media who should be trying to accommodate you the customer in your new circumstance?

but on the other hand its not their fault you moved house. it works both ways.

to be honest you'd probably find that they would want you on a fresh contract even if the cable was available up there.
