Leeds Parking Authority....

...can kiss the fattest part of my a*se! lol

About this time last month, I was working in Leeds City Centre (LS2 postcode) in the student houses area. As not all of the tenants have Parking Permits for visitors (yes, even British Gas engineers doing work are classed as visitors) I have a number for the Leeds Parking Authority.

I called the number and gave the details of my van and made sure I had authority. The guy repeated my details and generously gave me permission to park for about 2 hours, this would've given me up until 5pm, long after my finishing time so off I go to get a boiler working again.

Get back to my van at 4.50pm to find a ticket on the window

Tried calling the number on the back when I got home but the office was closed...typical.

Called next day and was told to email them the details, found it odd since they have all of the details infront of them but ok... so sent this email.....

PCN number: LS36122613
CEO Number: PA00040
My Vehicle: Vauxhall Combo
Colour: Blue (British Gas marked)
Registration: **** XLR
To whom it may concern

I am a British Gas Engineer, on Tuesday 17th November 2009 I attended a job on Kelso Road, LS2. On arrival to Kelso Road at 3.15pm I contacted the Leeds Parking Authority (0113 3952023) to gain permission to park on the street whilst carrying out the work, I was granted permission to park on Kelso Road until 5pm. This information was confirmed again in the call. On returning to my van after completing my work at 4.50pm, I found a parking ticket on my windscreen.

The ticket (PCN number above) was issued at 4.27pm, clearly within the time slot I was given permission for.

I am positive you have a call log for that day to confirm my call as do I in the form of an itemised bill for the phone used to call the Leeds Parking Authority. With this information, I am disputing the parking ticket issued as I clearly had permission to be on Kelso Road for the time the ticket was issued.

Regards,
Richard Peel
British Gas Engineer
Took a few weeks for them to reply with this lol

Dear Mr Peel

Traffic Management Act 2004
Penalty Charge Notice (PCN): LS36122613
Date of Issue: 17/11/2009
Location of Contravention: KELSO ROAD - WOODHOUSE
Nature of Contravention: 12 PARKED IN A RESIDENT OR SHARED PARKING PLACE

Thank you for your email dated 18 November 2009 in regard to the above PCN.

The Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) issued the PCN to the vehicle as it was observed parked in a residential only permit zone (ROPZ) without displaying a valid permit.

In view of your comments I have checked with our Customer Service Officer Mr K**** M**** and he has confirmed you had arranged a dispensation for your vehicle at the time the PCN was issued.

I can confirm I have cancelled the PCN and waived payment.

Yours sincerely

Linda Fothergill
Appeals Officer
You damn right you'll cancel the ticket! As far as I'm aware, all info regarding vehicles with permission to park via telephone is sent to the wardens electronically to their ticket issuing device. Not my problem the money grabbing little jobs worth can't do their jobs properly.

Nice one. Glad to see it was sorted though you shouldn't have got a ticket in the first place tbf. I wasn't so lucky with mine!
