Cerbera update / mods

Been very busy with installing new GAZ gold pro coil overs, and poly bushes in the cerb, started ripping out the rear suspension about couple of weekends ago, between working and rain i have near completed the rear, ready to start on the front, wednesday / thursday.

Took all the wishbones, hubs to work to use the 50ton press and certainly made life easier then burning and cutting them out, 2 minutes on the press and out. All cleaned up in the parfin tank and general condition of the powder coat was good as i was going to get it re coated, but no need.

Had a few little problems to sort out whilst doing all this, found two loose bolts on the diff back plate, which has stripped the threads, so out come the diff to repair that.

Few little bits left to do before completing the rear, then can start the front, got to have it all done by next wednesday, as its being picked up for MOT and wheel alignment then car show on the 17th. so have to get on with it.

Labled most things up as i was going alone to make sure the same bolts went back in the right place. All new bolts washers, nuts etc have been used, brought as a kit from one of the TVR specialists.

Repainted the only bit to be suffering with rust.

Only takes a stone chip on powder coat and water to get under and starts the process of rusting under the powder coat

unfortunately snapped a bit of the handbrake actuator so welded it back on

Going back together

Inside the LSD

All repaired, drilled and re tapped to M12

Diff upper mount with poly bush

Diff going back in, not easy on axle stands, weighs about 30kg, but is an awkward shape to handle and has to go in at an angle

New poly bush exhaust mounts

Complete suspension

Just need to set the ride height to 130mm, adjust the handbrake correctly, and sort the exhaust out

More fun tomorrow.

Peter

best part about owning one i think is being able to get stuck in and get to know the car better, not afraid of doing it myself as an engineer i work on trains so cars are just smaller scale

managed to get all the front suspension off yesterday and have taken it into work to remove all the bushes and clean up, the wish bones are in much worse state compared to the rear, so will clean them up and and hammerite the rusty bits as a temp job for a year or two then i'll remove it all again and get it sand blasted and repair it properly.

Some of voids in the welding are bad where one more run would have close the holes up and stopped any water getting in, so something that i'll tackle in the future.

But for now want it back on the road so that i can enjoy it, as much as i like taking it to bit and putting it back together
