FinePix S2980
Hi there, I currently own a NIKON coolpixs and its great for quick snaps but I would like to upgrade it to a better camrea, I would get a slr or dslr how ever I can not afford such camreas, how ever this s2980 is more in my price range and is more what I'm looking for with more controlling over the camrea. Just thought I would see if anyone on her would recomend this or in general bridge camreas? Thanks

What's your budget for a new camera?
The Finepix S2980 is around £80-£100. If you're willing to save another £20 or so you'll be able to afford an older model SLR. I use a Nikon D40 (SLR). It's an old model but it's brilliant as a starter SLR. Considering it's an old model now, it should be cheaper. You don't wanna go straight in with a new model SLR cause they're too complicated. You can't get the lenses or chargers etc... in stores but you can find anything you need on eBay for cheap as chips. So even getting the equipment to go with it works out cheaper. All in all, it's a great purchase. I'd advise it if you can afford one. Have a look on eBay or one of the budget camera websites. Here's a few of photos i've taken with my Nikon D40 to give you a quality example. Bear in mind i've had my camera for YEARS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Also go into Curry's or one of the camera shops and look at some of the cameras.
Make a note of what they offer in terms of megapixels, what lenses they have with them, memory... try them out and stuff and get a feel for them and then you can always go to ebay and look for cheaper cameras with similar assets.

When looking at camera's though don't base too much of your judgment on the amount of megapixels a camera boasts, it gets to the point where more megapixels dont actually make much difference, but company's will try get as many as they can to simply win you over.
