DSLR Camera Advice

Quite getting into the whole quality camera scene, and just looking for a bit of advice really?

New to the whole concept but very interested.. anyone got any tips of Camera's to consider/avoid? And what spec it should have?

Hoping to buy in the January sales when the prices drop a little, at which point I'd be hoping to spend around 300-400.

What about something like this? Is this the sort of spec I should be getting?

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-4799.aspx

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Wrong section

450D's are known as good beginner cameras. I recommend you go to Jessops and try the Nikon & Canon cameras in your budget, see which you prefer most. Then buy them cheaper else where.

Thanks. So all in all, something along those lines would be a good budget buy?

Just want some nice pics of my car really. Fed up of the poor quality Samsung Point & Shoot I have. Don't think I'd use it for much else other than car piccies.

(Sorry about wrong section)

Depends. You could also buy a nice bridge camera with that budget. They are almost DSLRs, but you can't change the lenses on them, which can be a bonus for somebody who doesn't want to get into having a collection of expensive lenses etc. I'd go have a play with bridges and DSLRs

Spec up the budget and find out which lens/body combo suits you the best.

Often the lens + body combo isn't the best as they will give you a cheap lens which is not the one you really need.

Ah right. But would a body + lens combo be more than ample for an amature car snapper?

im currently using my dads Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd, pretty good and i imagine they are dirt cheap now as he got his for couple hundred on a cam warehouse site, which was a fair bit cheaper than jessops etc

personally, i would look for a used camera body, then pick a lenses, a good lenses for everything is 18-200mm, both telephoto and wide angle. For wide angle you can go for 10-22mm but are very expensive. i would recommend buying a good flash if you are interested in taking pictures of cars adds more depth and detail to the pictures.
