The 1999 onwards non-VVC 16 valve heads are all the same, regardless of whether they are fitted to a 1.1, 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8.

The underside of the VVC head really only differs in having larger valves. I think the VVC pistons jave a slightly larger cutout in them to match the larger valves. If a VVC head is put on a standard 1.4 bottom end, it may be that the valves might just contact the piston crowns, but I am not 100% sure about that.

If there has been contact between the piston crowns and valves on a standard non-VVC head, it suggests that either the timing was incorrectly set, or the head has been skimmed beyond the tolerance stated by Rover (maximum skim = 0.2mm or minimum height of head casting = 118.75mm).
