Hi All

Am I right in thinking that those big grey boxes are the only traffic light camera's around? Because lots of lights have smaller things mounted on them, what do they do?

the little cameras mounted directly onto the lights detect whether cars are waiting at the lights or not and so can alter the phasing of the lights depending on traffic flow.

Set up by a company called Traffic Master. We sell them at work.

Something you lot might not know is there are three or four small GATSO type cameras around Glasgow although they are not at traffic lights. Strange one would think.

These were installed in the late eighties and early nineties to detect and monitor the movements of certain cars. Which really means is tracking IRA sympathisers and terrorists around the city. If you notice these in big cities that's what they are.
