A bit below average i would say. Do lots of short trips / town driving?

I do about 60% motorway and 40% town... Maybe I need a service?

 

As a comparison, i get up to 52mpg when its not so freezing cold and i do a similar amount of motorway driving. BUT, i also have SDI injectors and all sorts of other toys that hurt my mpg a bit

 

I only get around 36mpg around town. I don't drive like an idiot but I don't change gear at 2000 rpm either... Just had major service and hasn't made much difference. Better on the motorway though, but still nowhere near 50mpg.

 

There is something seriously wrong with your car or driving style if you can get it down to 36mpg!

 

How do you unplug your MAF sensor? Might be a good idea if I try it as well because my cars on 62k and I doubt its been changed before...

 

There is a plug that goes to the MAF housing near the airbox, simply unplug it and go for a spin!

 

mine has pretty bad mpg, going to and from work (11 miles) where i very rarely stop/start ill struggle to see the happy side of 40mpg...

in contrast i did a 250 mile round trip on the motorway and got 50mpg so.. yeah.

 

That would be amazing if I could hit 40mpg, but I can't lol. Sounds a good figure 2bh

 

Actually, skip that now. Did the test and it made no difference, although the bl**dy engine light's stuck on now! Any ideas?

 

Felt no different at all in the lower rev ranges then? Don't worry about the engine light, i think it turns itself off after 50 engine starts or something like that.

 

Last time I filled up I put in 38ltrs and had travelled 428miles using the converter I am getting 50.73 mpg and mines also has a fair few mods.
Defo somethings not right Kenbyng I do a 20 mile round trip to work and back and its all a roads no motorway.

 

Cheers mate. I'm scratching my head tbh. Even combining mostly town with a bit of motorway I can only just squeeze abt 300 out of a tank. I calculated that the last tankfull gave me around 38mpg on average, though the place that serviced it told me nothing showed up on the T4, though the MAF apparently wouldn't show up anyway. Maybe I should just bite the bullet & try a MAFAM for what little it costs?

 

i wish my cupra would return me with 35MPG, round town with my heave foot im lucky to get it over 21
