This isn't my week. Came out of halfords last night in the pissin rain. Slid on the exit bend (cheap package tyres) and belted the kerb side on with the front drivers wheel. Broke the front tie bar, bent the back 1, bent the steering rack and possibly damaged the wishbone too. Oh, and totally mauled the alloy which is only about a month old not even paid for them yet! :hang

any pics mate?
unlucky, how much is that going to cost to put right?
Not too sure yet mate. Goin to my dad's later to strip it down and see exactly what needs to be replaced. He took it away on a trailer as it wouldn't drive at all. He reckons no more than £500 coz we're doin it ourselves. I'll take some pics when i strip it.

I know me too. Only it wasn't even a proper kerb, but a square bit where a bollard used to be before some other poor fu**er did the same as me and drove through it wi his escort.

you must have been doing some speed to have caused that much damage
Agree, coming out of a car park my speed is only somthing like 10mph and im sure it would be quite hard to slide at that speed.

I mean it might have been different in terms or road lay out, but to do that amount of damage from a slight hit on the kerb from pulling out of a carpark.

best of luck getting it sorted.

You would thing so but i couldn't have been doin more than 25 as i approached it and braked (empty car park by the way before anyone calls me any names lol). Just locked up while turning and the wheel hit side on which pushed the wheel under the car a bit and fu**ed everything!

25 is still far too much in a car park regardless of if its empty the shops were obv still open so you could have easily missed sight of someone, im just happy it was your car that got shunted rather than a person

So you where being silly in an empty car park, then misjudged the corner and as you where going to quick you turned and nothing happened THEN WACK!

Well I aint going to shout at you lol, but its kinda obvious what is going to happen lol, what you say makes it perfectly clear to as what happened.

to be fair to the guy, iv got some cheap budget tyres on the front, and in the wet they dont grip for $h!t! even when doing really slow speeds!
Drivers error + ****ty tyres + rain is not a good combo!

Won't be using them then. Can't afford to be sliding in to any more obsticles once it's fixed. What's the best tyre to get then without spending a fortune?

if your on a budget there are no good ones tbh, i was in the same boat as you, i was skint, so had to get some budget ones fitted, really really rubbish, slides all over the place in the wet...
