After I had tinted one of my windows; quite a few people asked me to make a how to guide; so here it is ! Enjoy and good luck!
1) Buy your tint; ensure a good quality film, do not be fooled by precut rubbish!
2) Fill up a bottle that has a spay gun with soapy water, prepare your tint; get a good piece that covers the entire surface of the window with a large margin.
3) Clean your window thoroughly; use a razor blade to make sure no pieces of dirt remains, spray the water and shave the glass about 3 times.
Clean your window again and again; you can not over do it!
4) Remove the screw; if you have a three door you will need to unscrew it like this; if you don't have an opening window; ignore this part.
When the screw is removed clean the window again,
5) Take your tint STICKY SIDE FACING YOU! do NOT remove the plastic film! you should have it facing towards you.
Once you have identified what side is the sticky side; spray the window till it's soaking and apply the tint.
6) Squeegee out the water; spray the tint with water and squeegee...
Squeeze out as much water as you can!
7) When the water is squeezed out and the tint is tightly lightly applied all around the edges and, with a knife, cut it out
8) Spray the outside and squeegee again; and you will find a few folds like these:
To remove these you will need a heat gun:
with the heat gun; warm the folds and squeeze them out with a squeegee and push hard. always give the window a spray and squeegee outwards.
9) Now the tint is shrinked; give it another spray and clean the inside of the window thoroughly like you did the outside with the razor, then peel away the plastic film from the tint in the top corner; at the same time; spray in between the film and the tint as you peel away; this will avoid static electricity which makes it harder to apply the tint inside.
10) Dispose of the film and peel off the tint CAREFULLY so it doesn't stick to itself !
Make sure the tint is soaking both sides and that the inside window is soaking too, lay the tint gently on the inside window and slide it to the correct place; squirt water at it and squeegee out all bubbles and folds.
Make sure you take your time to squeegee everything out: folds bubbles etc... if some are stubborn; wait a few days and squeeze them out with a credit card or something...
They should now look like this:
