1. brackets are a good idea as they were desugned for the job... but you can make anything fit anything i spose

2. dont see how that helps if you fit them properly

3. i wouldnt expect change from 100quid.

if it has no brackets then you can get them from mg...bout £50 ish.
when fitting them get a tube of bonding (tiger seal) from a good bodyshop and use that insted of the double sided tape...
you can fit them yourself........I fitted the ones on jayjays zr...

just jack up the rear side.remove rear wheel,
give the sills a good clean,
screw the rear bracket to the skirt.put a beed of the bond on the skirt (where it meets the top of the sill)
offer it up to the sill.(get a mate to hold in place)
screw the rear bracket to the end of the sill.(holes there.but you will need some longer screws)
screw the front bracket on.
fit the little clips to the underside of the sill
push the skirt top so the gap closes and put some masking tape over it to hold it till the bond drys.
fit rear wheel...
will take 30mins per side max.
no drilling needed....

with your reference to riveting, yes it would be wise to rivet them in place. You rivet them from underneath the skirt along it, to ensure that they are not stolen.

little clips? ANYONE?
These will be the little spring clips that hold the bottom of the skirt to the flange on the lower edge of the sill.

They can be got from any MGR dealer; part no DDQ000050 - CLIP-SILL FINISHER. They come in packets of ten for about £12.
