long story short;
few days ago the window would stop maybe an inch down and start banging really loudly, but go up again no problem.
then it stopped completely and would just make a sound as if the motor was spinning, but nothing would happen.

so i took the door card off and had a look, nothing was out of place/broken/missing , i put some lubricant on the runners and still nothing!

time for a new motor?

The motor assembly is spot welded together. Under the load of raising the window this can fail leaving you with the motor spinning free and not engaged to the cog-drive that moves and holds the window in place.

Two options:
1. A replacement mechanism, they go on ebay/scap yard.
2. If you're handy with the tools you can secure the assembly together by drilling out the welds and bolting it together. This depends on the condition of mech, it may be that you can secure the vehicle but some or all of the window function will be lost.
