I was checking the rear number plate lights last Sunday just to give the covers a clean. After removing the plastic cover inside the boot on the boot lid I noticed this plastic bag inside the panels. On removing it the plastic bag contained a grey sponge that was holding a great deal of water. What's it for....at first I thought it was a packed lunch stuffed away by one of the Rover workers who may have been having a crafty luch break and was caught by his supervisor so he stuffed it inside the panel. Anyone got Ideas what it's for!
Anyone else found one of these...

I think its to stop vibration and also condense any water that could stop the operation of either the locks, boot lights etc...
