Well the deals on these cars were too good to miss so had to take the plunge.

Going to miss the power of the clio 172 but not the running costs!

Also if anyone is interested if you bought your rover/mg at a Dixon garage you still have a warrenty with the royal bank of Scotland

Insurance was the main reason I have swopped but also thought about all those people lossing their jobs.

And another thing my mate bought a silver zr the same time!!!!!!

That is what I call showing support!!!

O.k so your car is the reason I have swopped!

Personally I did not rate the ZR before I drove my mates - Barney.

You get tunnel vision when you drive a fast car everyday thinking you need 170bhp to have fun....... what you need is a good drive and the zr is fantastic and will put a smile on my face

Still will the power every now and then but not the ÂŁ550 difference in insurance

Welcome to the site mate and I'm glad your happy with the ZR even though your used to having more power. Do you find the handling of the ZR better than the Clio?

Cheers. Ewan.
well I only drove the ZR about 4 miles on the test drive and have only driven my mates ZR (barney1) a few times so I cant give a massive description but to be honnest in normal driving the cars feel fairly similar. Both have a stiff feel at the wheel which I like and both are bumpy at low speeds and both give goods feed back from the handling.

I love the way the 172 drives but this comes at a price, insurance and fuel. for the performance the 172 has good economy but I cant help driving it hard so 90p for optimax and 200 miles a tank hurts. Also the 172 is coming to a point where things start to break and being french it will!!!

I dont think I will be dissapointed in the handling in the ZR and notice that much difference. I've always liked it as a car and there was nothing in its price bracket which could offer a good drive and at the same time support british industry. It could be my industry next which is badly hit if this country continues to support foreign economies over its own!!

The brakes in the ZR dont seem to have the same feel as the 172 but I will get used to that... the 172 has the best brakes I have ever driven in a normal(ish) production car.

Some one mentioned the price..... well I dont want to go into too much detail as yet as I bought it at a garage where a friend works so as soon as I get the car I will give more details....... Its complicated!!

Thanks for making me feel welcome and sorry for writing so much

Matt
