Its nothing really to do with being at a stand still mate. Why would you want nice cold dense air for performance when pottering around town at standstill/slow speed.
You can use your argument for top quality enclosed systems also! Your always going to suffer when pottering around town at standstill/ very slow speed
Drill your airbox, add an open cone and the filter will be getting warm air when moving aswell as its sucking in hot engine bay air as opposed to the cold air route from the front grille
