Just bought a zr wich has had a 2 litre turbo engine conversion. everything has been changed to suit the performance but the engine is getting really really hot! ino this is normal for a turbo'd engine and the tempreture needle on the dash is perfect but i still dont like the fact its getting so warm. ive got a nice big intercooler thats front mounted on the car wich isnt hooked up yet.. the turbo is still running on the standard intercooler for that particular engine. does any one know of any other ways to cool the engine down and can i attach any more fans etc?:excl::excl:

the engine is from a 1997 t series rover either 220 or 820?

confused!.

Which part of the engine are you touching?

The turbo can glow with heat just fyi.
well the rocker cover and gasket cover seems to be the normal 'very warm' engine temp but the turbo is RED HOT!

when i get the larger intercooler connected will the engine run cooler overall? or would that just effect the turbo tempreture?

also there is a little bit of oil sat around the top of the spark plug bay which is looking like the gaskets are leaking very slightly, i think the gasket needs replacing wich might be effecting the overall performance and engine temp??

Im thinking once i get the gaskets replaced and the Larger intercooler connected then it will decrease the engine temp by quite a bit.

any suggestions ?? and ideas??:whistle:

cheers.

midlands mate
Main things are do the fans work ?
If so are they on a switch or ECU controlled ?

As long as the temp gauge never raises and the coolant doesn't boil then I wouldn't worry too much

if you were closer I'd say call by and we could take a look.
