passenger side headlight problem
hi guys,
ive recently discovered my mk2 has a headlight problem, it dose not work on dipped ive checked all fuses and bulbs and they are all fine but the dipped beam dose not seem to want to work, whilst i was checking this all out the other day they suddenly started to work again but when i turned the headlights on a strange noise came from the passenger side light. i tried turning the lights on and off a few times and still the strange noise but after i had left the car 30mins i tried it again and now nothing so still the headlight is not working. any help will be much appreciated. cheers dan.... |

ye going to test it back with my mulltimeter later and check but im not sure thats the case i think maybe a sensor or something not sure. cheers anyway.

ok ye that isnt it im just wondering what made the buzzing noise when i turned it on after cleaning the connector. cheers

There was no power on the feed wire to the bulb. All fuses and connectors were fine. After a lot of searching I found that there was a break in the wire inside a harness between the last connector near the bulkhead and the front light. I was able to bypass this wire and got the light working. I then dug deeper and after removing the whole of the air filter holder assembly and the battery tray I found that the wire has chaffed through inside the harness about 9" back from the headlight. I repaired the damage and it is now back to operating normally. I am a retired electronic engineer and this sort of fault finding is well within my skills range but even then it took quite a bit on finding. |

ye im a electrician and the fault is a bit of a weird one ill investigate this as this sounds like what it may be, any more info would be greatly welcome cheers.
