White LED dash conversion

As the title says, wanted to get rid of the dated orange dash and update it. Most people seem to go blue but I decided on white for that nice modern Audi look

Here's a list of bulbs needed:

3x 501 bulbs behind the main gauges
1x 509t bulb each for the clock and odometer
2x 286 bulbs for the heater panel
6x 3mm leds for the center console switches

EDIT: Updated Pics

Basically I replaced all bulbs with white LEDs, and got new heater and main dials from metal monkey.

I do like that clock, was it tricky to do?

Nah really easy actually and it looks great - does look a bit odd with everything else orange tho, it's really white! All you have to do is pop the clock surround off, then it's 2 screws that hold the clock in and a plug. Replace the bulb with a white 509T LED, pop the clock open, take out the orange filter and replace it with a bit of white paper. Then put everything back together! Took about 15 mins

Thanks! It'll look better when I get the LEDS in the dials. Some of the colours ain't really showing in the pics either but look great in reality - the red on the rev gauge for example. Also the petrol pump icon is green

Got white LEDs in the heater controls now - makes a massive difference!

Just waiting for the main dial LEDs to come now and some blue gel caps for the switches, so when they are turned on the window light will be blue

Do you mind sending a link to which leds you bought? Just searched 12v leds on ebay but having a tough time deciding on which set lol... I want to change all the orange lighting from the dash/controls & clock to blue :-P Nice work with the white :-)

Ok, first of all I don't think you can get coloured 12v LEDs. The ones on ebay are probably normal leds and they will send you resistors with them that you will have to attach yourself. I might be wrong here, but thats my understanding. (EDIT: on that site you can get red, yellow and green 12v LEDs - but not blue.....) I want the switches to be blue when turned on, so to get around this I bought some blue gel caps to fit over the LEDs. They haven't arrived yet so I don't know how good they look, but I'll post pics on here when I get them fitted. Here's the links:

Switch LEDs - http://www.rapidonline.com/Electroni...-1-9cd-55-1909

Gel caps - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2607613112...84.m1439.l2649

Heater control bulbs - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1208899639...9#ht_703wt_985

Clock and Odo bulbs - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3803197885...ht_2276wt_1218

Speedo etc bulbs: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1407982476...ht_1045wt_1218

AS A WARNING! As has been said a few times before - when doing the main dash if possible don't try and take the needles off. They are an absolute NIGHTMARE to try and get back on properly and in the right place, without snapping or the needles sticking. I just went out and replaced the temp and fuel gauges on mine as I broke them, and I'm still not sure the petrol gauge is working properly
