Engine Problems

Hi,

Needed some help and although it not an MG thought that someone could help me out?

My friends Renault clio 55' Reg, 105,000 miles -

struggles to start and is chugging quite badly in 2nd

the car hasn't had a service in a long time

Any ideas on what is causing this would be great, thanks!

Bit more information:

Once car is warmed up there is no problem with second gear chugging, and sometimes it will start and then struggles to keep started and then just dies

Probably a failed PCV valve. Common on Clios.

Thing is some have them as an external unit or internal under the cam cover.

Ah 16v. thought you were on about a 8v. iirc they're in the cam cover on the 16v, problem is you can't replace them separately and got to replace the cam cover. (Assuming its a D4F engine).

You'd probably be better blanking off the breather from the inlet and use a catch tank.
